Introducing USPS Ground Advantage™

USPS is merging several existing services, First Class Package, Retail Ground and Parcel Select Ground into a new product offering USPS Ground Advantage™ on July 9, 2023. USPS Ground Advantage will feature 2-5 day service standards for packages up to 70 pounds.

NOTE:

  1. 1. If you are already using USPS Retail Ground in your Shipping Profiles, you will be automatically switched to USPS Ground Advantage.
  2. Note that First Class Mail will continue to work with Card, Letter, Flat.
  3. If you have been using First Class Package Service or Parcel Select Ground, you will need to change these services to Ground Advantage In OrderCup starting July 9, 2023.  The next few sections outline how to do this in OrderCup.



OrderCup Changes



1. To enable or disable shipping  services


Go to settings, Carriers and fulfilment, USPS and select the Ground advantage service and click save.




2. To edit an existing shipping profile


Go to Settings, Stores, Shipping profile. Select the profile you would like to edit from the dropdown, then select the service like ground advantage and click save.



3. To edit a existing shipping rule


Go to Settings, Stores, shipping Rules Select the rule you would like to edit and then for example change the service from First Class Mail to Ground advantage, and then click save.



USPS HAZMAT Changes

Starting July 9, 2023 USPS requires you specify the HazMat type when using this special service, in addition to using special warning labels on the package. The following types are listed by USPS:


  • Air Eligible Ethanol
  • Class 1 Toy Propellant or Safety Fuse
  • Class 3
  • Class 7 Radioactive Materials
  • Class 8 Air Eligible Corrosive Materials
  • Class 8 Sealed Lead Acid Battery
  • Class 9 Dry Ice
  • Class 9 Lithium Battery Marked Ground Only
  • Class 9 Lithium Battery Unmarked
  • Class 9 Lithium Battery with New Device
  • Class 9 Magnetized Materials
  • Consumer Commodity
  • Div 4.1 Mailable Flammable Solids
  • Div 5.1 Hydrogen Peroxide 8 to 20 Percent
  • Div 5.2 Organic Peroxides
  • Div 6.1 Toxic Materials
  • Div 6.2 Biological Materials
  • Excepted Quantity Provision
  • Ground Only Hazardous Materials
  • Lighters
  • Limited Quantity Ground Only

Specifying Hazmat Type


In OrderCup, you can set your Default HazMat Type under  Settings --> Carriers & Fulfillment --> USPS --> Hazardous Material





This Default Hazmat Type will be pre-selected on the Ship Page. You can always change this as needed while shipping the order, based on what is being shipped in he order.
